Finding Your Voice Workshop for Yoga Instructors

In this workshop we will explore the mechanics of the voice including breath support, projection, resonance, intonation and more. We will explore methods that allow your authentic voice to emerge as a yoga teacher. Using and owning your voice can help you to craft a more dynamic and complete experience for your students.

February 4th, 10am-12pm
$35 to attend

Jen is a Blue Ridge Yoga graduate with her 200-hr certification. She originally came to the practice of yoga through theatre. She became involved in theatre at a very young age and has studied and participated in theatre in a variety of settings including educational, children’s theatre, collegiate, and community. The actor’s toolbox of body, voice, and imagination have transformed the way she interacts with the world and also informs the way she teaches yoga. She will be graduating in May with a B.S. in Theatre from MTSU. She hopes to integrate the art of theatre with the practice of yoga to inspire imagination and foster healing.

Posture Anatomy Workshop for Yoga Teachers

  • Blue Ridge Yoga & Wellness Center (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

What is ‘good posture’?

This three-hour workshop will clarify why establishing a 'neutral spinal alignment' can support better breathing, core stability (via intra-abdominal pressure), and optimal function of the nervous system and whole body.

You will learn to spot common postural misalignments in your students and have the chance to practice exercises to support lower back health. We will also examine common yoga poses with an eye on the three girdles of stability working together in harmony (abdominal, pelvic, and thoracic), and explore how widening one’s perception of ‘core stability' can help support a strong and stable base for movement, on and off the mat.

This workshop is geared toward yoga instructors and trainees but will contain valuable information for yoga students as well. Registered Yoga Teachers can apply for CEUs with Yoga Alliance following this course.
